Digilent Analog Discovery Pro ADP2230
The Digilent Analog Discovery Pro ADP2230 is a USB-C mixed-signal oscilloscope with two 14-bit BNC inputs at 125 MS/s, up to 128 MS of buffer per channel, a 14-bit AWG output, 16 digital lines and ±5 V programmable supplies. It sits between the Analog Discovery 3 and the ADP3450 for users who want BNC inputs and deep memory.

ADP2230 on Mac, Windows and Linux
WaveForms 3.25.1 (March 2026) supports the ADP2230 on macOS 12 or later with a Universal build for Intel and Apple Silicon, on Windows x86 and ARM64, and on amd64 and arm64 Linux, including Raspberry Pi 5. The WaveForms SDK installs with it. DAQAtlas, which is in development, reads the ADP2230 through that SDK, so WaveForms has to be installed first.
Memory configurations and power
The ADP2230 stores captures in onboard DDR memory, and how much you get depends on the power available. With at least 3.7 W, from a USB 3.x port or the included 5 V auxiliary supply, the default DDR configuration gives 64 MS per scope channel and 128 MS per logic channel. An oscilloscope-priority configuration raises the scope buffer to 128 MS per channel and disables the logic analyzer. On a weaker port it falls back to block RAM with 32 kS per channel. For longer recordings, Scope Record mode streams into host RAM (up to 200 MS) or to a disk file, at rates that depend on your computer and USB traffic. Digilent notes up to 10 MHz for single-channel record acquisition. The Logger saves data on each acquisition for slow, long tests.
Inputs, outputs and digital lines
The two scope inputs are single-ended BNC with 1 MΩ input impedance, AC or DC coupling, and two ranges, ±2.5 V and ±25 V with respect to ground. Bandwidth is 50 MHz or more with a suitable probe, and on-device FIR and IIR filters can run on both inputs. The single AWG output is 14-bit, ±5 V, with 50 Ω output impedance and 15 MHz bandwidth. The 16 digital lines are 3.3 V LVCMOS, 5 V tolerant, at 125 MS/s, and the two supplies reach ±5 V at up to 1 A or 3 W each. The device connects over USB Type-C (USB 3.2 Gen 1). Digilent’s price at the time of writing is $499. The inputs are ground-referenced, so read the single-ended vs differential guide before you probe floating signals.
Questions
Does the ADP2230 work on a Mac?
Yes. WaveForms supports it on macOS 12 or later with a Universal build for Intel and Apple Silicon.
How much capture memory does the ADP2230 have?
64 MS per scope channel in the default DDR configuration, or 128 MS per channel in the oscilloscope-priority configuration, when the device has at least 3.7 W of power.
How is the ADP2230 different from the Analog Discovery 3?
It has single-ended BNC inputs with 50 MHz or more bandwidth, much deeper DDR memory and one AWG channel, where the AD3 has differential inputs, a 32k-sample buffer and two AWG channels.
